Publication Policies
Saberes Educativos is an open access scientific journal, peer-reviewed by double-blind, biannually published. Contributions are received throughout the year, through the journal's website and by email to sabereseducativos@uchile.cl. The journal doesn't have processing charges nor submission charges.
Regarding editorial ethics, Revista Saberes Educativos is governed by standards inspired by COPE (Committee of Publication Ethics). For plagiarism and self-plagiarism detection, the journal uses Turnitin.
Peer review process
1. Articles must be sent through the journal's web platform (option "Send article") or through email to sabereseducativos@uchile.cl.
2. Once received, the article is reviewed by the Editor to verify that it fits the editorial focus of the journal, and is subsequently analyzed by the integrity software Turnitin.
3. If the article passes this first review, it goes to the next stage. If not, it is rejected. This result is communicated to the authors.
4. The article is sent for review to a peer reviewer, under double-blind procedure.
5. The article can be accepted without modifications, accepted with minor modifications, accepted with major modifications or rejected. Based on the result of the peer review, the Editor communicates the editorial decision to the authors.
6. If accepted, the article is sent to the authors, in order for them to incorporate the observations made in the peer evaluation.
7. The authors incorporate the required modifications and resubmit the article.
8. The editorial team reviews the adjustments and may eventually raise new correction needs to the authors.
9. Once the editorial team receives the final version of the article, it is subjected to style editing and layout.
10. The resulting pre-print is sent to the authors for their validation.
11. After validation, the article is published.
Copyright
After accepting articles to be published, the journal is free to reproduce the contents for dissemination purposes, duly giving credit to the authors. The latter will keep the intellectual property and the rights recognized by law.
By sending their articles for evaluation, the journal supposes that authors know and accept the following conditions:
- Authors retain the copyrights and assign the right of first publication to the journal, as well as authorize the reproduction and/or translation of the manuscript by the journal.
- Regarding the rights of use, the journal is under Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivatives 4.0 International License, which allows third parties to copy, distribute, display and interpret the work, as long as they attribute it to its author and explicitly state that the first publication was made in this journal, without distributing derivative works based on the original and without pursuing commercial purposes.
- After the first publication of the article in this journal, authors are free to make other contractual agreements for the non-exclusive distribution of the paper (for example, publication in a book), provided that they expressly indicate that the original publication of the work was done in this journal.
- Authors expressly release Centro de Estudios Saberes Docentes of the University of Chile from any responsibility for any legal, contractual or regulatory infringement that may be committed or may have been committed in relation to the work, forcing themselves to make reparation to the institution for any damage resulting from the infringement of the rights mentioned above.
- Authors are allowed to publish their work on internet (for example, on institutional or personal websites), as a "working paper" or "preprint", before or during the review and publication process. This can lead to productive exchanges and a greater and faster dissemination of published work.
