Qualitative study regarding the subjective experience of sickness in diabetics

Abstract

Objectives: The objective of this study is that of exploring the subjective experience of sickness of diabetics. Methods: The qualitative methodology of research was chosen, and the qualitative interview as an instrument. Results: Among the main findings of this study is the fact that diabetics who have achieved to live their ailment normally, have networks of social support (the family and other diabetics), as well as health institutions that keep them informed about their ailment. The non non normalized types of sickness experiences were also explored, referring to the way in which these patients cope with diabetis in their daily life.
